buntu. YOU — Newsletter for Humans. V006

A man in a vintage pilot's helmet and goggles is enthusiastically riding a makeshift, wing-equipped vehicle with flames and smoke billowing out from behind him, suggesting speed and excitement. The background is a warm, dramatic blur of orange and brown tones, possibly indicating a desert or industrial setting. In the foreground, white text reads: "Contemporary human-to-human connection specialists for business." Below the man, the word "buntu." is prominently displayed in white.

V006 has arrived and with it this sentiment.

“When asked if it is the journey or the destination? Our answer is always, the company we keep.”

So thanks for reading, subscribing and caring.

Enjoy.

Who is buntu. and why what we do matters now?

buntu. means people.

It’s a derivative of the South African word ‘ubuntu’, which means I see you, I recognise and appreciate you. It’s about community.

The buntu. team is your contemporary ‘human to human’ communication and connection specialists for business.

Our role is to help you resonate with creative, collaborative and contemporary response-worthy comms, both offline and online.

While ‘everybody’ is zigging into AI, communication automation, transactional efficiency and doing ever more with less, the buntu. team is focused on providing a counterbalance, a connection with intention and recognition of our humanity in business.

YOUR buntu. YOU newsletter has been designed to offer insight, learnings, creativity and storytelling.

What’s the Real Purpose of a Goal?

When I ask our clients why we set goals, the common answers are:

  • To have something to aim for
  • To provide direction and focus
  • To stay motivated and build momentum

All valid. But according to Buckminster Fuller, the true purpose of a goal is simple: to ensure motion.

Humans are designed to move — physically, mentally, emotionally. We set a goal, reach it, then set another. That cycle keeps us in motion. And motion is non-negotiable. It’s a universal law—like gravity. When we stop moving, everything else stalls.

At buntu., we’re in massive motion—leading the slow marketing movement through real, human-to-human connection. Our goal? To help businesses that stand for something meaningful build long-term, healthy relationships.

But if goals create motion, then strategy is what channels and optimises that motion.

Think of a rocket headed to the moon: it’s only directly on course 3% of the time. The other 97%? It’s adjusting, correcting, recalibrating.

That’s what we’ve been doing at buntu. — refining, iterating, and tuning. And now, in this AI-dominated era, we’re emerging as an alternative and addition for those craving real connection beyond the digital noise.

Execution matters. That’s where the formula comes in. Strategy must come alive through deliberate micro-actions—products, services, and systems that actually move the needle.

Enter the buntu. Human-to-Human Communication Ecosystem—designed not just to make a difference, but to be the difference.

Are You Worth Connecting With?

While mindlessly scrolling through my Instagram feed, I came across a question that stopped me in my tracks: “Are you worth connecting with?”

It made me pause. I’ve been working many years with buntu., where human-to-human connection is at the core of everything we do. But when I really think about it — am I worth connecting with? What does this question truly mean? And how, as the concierge, can I do justice to what we stand for?

Have you ever met someone who instantly made you feel at ease—like you truly mattered? Maybe it was a colleague who took the time to listen, a friend who made you feel understood, or even a stranger whose kindness left a lasting impression.

The truth is, people are drawn to those who make them feel seen, heard, and valued. But here’s the real question: Are you that person?

Being warm isn’t just about polite smiles or saying the right things—it’s about creating an atmosphere where others feel comfortable and welcome. Kindness isn’t about grand gestures; it’s in the little things, like remembering a small detail from a past conversation or offering a helping hand without expecting anything in return.

And then there’s authenticity—the real game-changer. People can sense when you’re being genuine versus when you’re just going through the motions. Embracing who you are, flaws and all, allows you to build connections rooted in trust and sincerity.

When warmth, kindness, and authenticity come together, something powerful happens: People trust you. They want to be around you. They see you as someone worth knowing, working with, and keeping in their corner.

As for me, I want to make sure to respond to emails and queries in a genuine, personal way—ensuring people feel heard rather than receiving automated replies.

So, as you move through your day, ask yourself: Am I showing up with warmth, kindness, and authenticity? Because in the end, these aren’t just qualities that make you easy to connect with— they make you unforgettable.

In appreciation,

Goals Strategy Formula.

When we discuss strategy and formula here at buntu. there is always a conversation and a

little uncovering of YOUR goals first.

What is the actual aim of what YOU and YOUR business are up to?

Are YOU simply in it to make money?

Change the world?

Build an empire?

Discover the next something?

Create the next trend?

Impact a group of humans?

It might sound obvious when it comes to playing a part in YOUR strategy and

YOUR formula, but YOU really do need to understand YOUR goals first.

When we look inside any strategy with YOU

it’s all about the INTENTION.

Helping YOU create the plan, behind the meaning of YOUR goal.

Ensuring the right INTENTION is there to grow YOUR reputation.

Whether YOU manage to create the impact YOU seek or not.

Now we need action.

Some tactics, some creative components, to help accomplish and move

YOU closer to achieving YOUR goal.

This is the fun part.

Where we get creative with YOU and for YOU.

Get YOU to the edges.

YOUR formula should cut through the noise, leave an impact, peak interest, be potent.

‘Sharable, remarkable, memorable.’

YOUR formula, YOUR tactics, unique to YOU.

YOU see when we work on GOALS – STRATEGY – FORMULA

We are looking for YOUR ‘point of difference’ from the start to the finish.

Most people will say look outside the box.

We ask why there is one.

Andy Baker – Creative Director

A greeting card stands upright, featuring an image of a person with dreadlocks looking upwards with a serene expression, arms slightly raised, set against a soft gradient sky of pink and purple. White text at the top reads: "Listen to what they say YOUR are doing right. Then make it better." The "buntu." logo is partially visible in the bottom left corner of the card.

Learning to kiss all of the things that slow YOU down.

I like to feel busy, or more to the point I really like to feel productive.

As a creative person who cannot sit still and whose brain is always thinking through things,

past things, over and under things, I struggle to slow down.

What I am learning and still aiming to perfect, is to take notice.

Notice of the things that slow me down.

It might be a new music artist I discovered whilst searching for creative inspiration.

The way the sun hits the side of my house in the late afternoon.

The sound of my daughter laughing on the other end of the phone.

Everything about the ocean, so vast, always moving, changing.

Salt water on my face, sand between my toes.

Pottering around in the garden. Any garden.

How small dogs who carry large sticks make me smile.

When the thought in my head about tonight’s dinner turns out perfectly.

The sound of a champagne cork popping on a Sunday.

My wife’s feet just touching the dashboard of the car as we take a drive in the sun.

I think as I notice more, I will slow down.

Perhaps even look at productivity a little different.

Allow myself enough time to ‘kiss all of the things that hold my attention and fill my heart.’

Andy.
