Who is buntu. and why what we do matters now?
buntu means people.
It’s a derivative of the South African word ‘ubuntu’, which means I see you, I recognise and appreciate you. It’s about community.
The buntu. team is your contemporary ‘human to human’ communication and connection specialists for business.
Our role is to help you resonate with creative, collaborative and contemporary response-worthy comms, both offline and online.
While ‘everybody’ is zigging into AI, communication automation, transactional efficiency and doing ever more with less, the buntu. team is focused on providing a counterbalance, a connection with intention and recognition of our humanity in business.
Surprise and delight does not need an algorithm. None of us will have ‘I made budget’ or ‘She mastered AI’ as an epitaph.
Our intention is to keep a focus on ‘real’ and ensure that our clients uncover who they are, really, and help them express the essence of what it is that they are up to and why that matters now.
Our focus is on being unreasonably creative and the refreshingly possible for YOU.
YOUR buntu. YOU newsletter has been designed to offer insight, learnings, creativity and storytelling.
It’s about YOU.
One recent Sunday afternoon, the pub was noisy, the food was ordinary and it was uncomfortably hot and windy on the outside balcony.
In the busyness of conversation with this gathered group of elite marketing professionals, I received a gift. A simple yet profound reminder.
In discussion with a very successful and wealthy marketing professional he expressed his intention to become much more skilled at nurturing conversations, building his network and engaging with the humans he knows are decision makers.
He is exceptionally skilled at manipulating marketing data, algorithms and technology and yet he knows that the ‘next level’ for his growth is to be able begin conversations with people who are up to something of significance.
It turns out that initiating and growing relationships that resonate is my super-power, the sweet spot in my innate skillset. I can help.
That micro-moment, a gratifying reminder of the power of showing up, being present and connecting with intention.
What’s creating attention for YOU and YOUR business?
Faster? Doing more with less? Transactional efficiency? Cheaper?
In order to have the impact YOU seek, slow down, consider the impact of meaningful connections and mutual value nurtured over time.
Thank goodness for that pub moment.
What’s YOUR superpower?
Greg Smith.

There is no ‘If I had a choice’, because choice is ALL we have.
Any action is a result of choice.
Even inaction.
Choice is ALL we have, it’s our decisions that form us.
So choose wisely, decide with heart.
Work hard to fall in love with the person YOU spend the most time with.
YOU.
Think with acceptance, understanding and care.
Speak to YOURSELF with enthusiasm, encouragement and praise.
Then a decision made out of love is the right decision.
A good choice.
Because choice is all we have.
EFFECTIVELY FOLLOW distraction.
“Distraction is the process of diverting the attention of an individual or group from a desired area of focus and thereby blocking or diminishing the reception of desired information.”
HOWEVER . . .
It’s ok to be distracted.
In fact we should all seek it out at times.
Distraction like procrastination allows the mind to wander to the creative.
It’s the fun part, the part that allows joy to seep in.
And without JOY.
What are we doing it for?
We can all EFFECTIVELY FOLLOW distraction.
It works by allowing YOURSELF to be distracted, it is the energy around us that is creating it.
Go with it, embrace it, learn from it.
When it strikes, when the urge to do something that is not at the top of the list presents itself.
Open YOUR arms to it, let it in.
YOU will find out how effective, impactful, creative and productive YOU can be.
Take good care.
Andy.
